The Long and Winding Road

Handwritten notes around a map with colored lines.

Sara's Song

Sara Between Two Towns

Flawed Intoxication

Well dang, it's that song again, the one with notes my heart used to rise again. I'm not sure how it came to me, but I suspect those notes will be used to shape my destiny.

Well dang, it's that song again, the one with notes my heart used to rise again. I'm not sure how it came to me, but I suspect those notes will be used to shape my destiny.

I am strangely drawn to know more about the writer, their life clearly made them a kindhearted survivor. Lives so different, but the same in so many ways, duplicate experiences separated by years and days.

You know that friend we all wish we had, someone you could trust with your heartbreaks and events that were bad. Friend like this are hard to find, so when life's tales are shared, no worry of betrayal ever plagues your mind.

Well, here it comes again, that song on my list, the one that soothed my heart up when it was the frailest. A smile begins to form in my heart, and I know for sure God is giving me a new start.

If only I could thank them for sharing their heart but oh my goodness, where would you even start. Songwriters like this are guarded by fame, so sending a thank you would only be in vain.

I think I will send a thank you anyway, even if it's never opened or sees the light of day. They should know how powerful words can be and how they helped a faraway listener like me.

Two handwritten notes on white and beige backgrounds.

I cannot be sure, but it seems to me that there are some things in life too difficult to be. Unexpected first glances that came as a surprise, hindered by commitments, circumstances and prying eyes.

Intoxicating attraction in so many ways, with flaws in both, never to see the light of day. Imaginary perfection that could easily destroy any new friendship between a girl and a boy.

Just like letters exchanged in the past, their minds fill with expectations that could never last. But oh, the wonder and passion it brings to the mind free to wonder and believe in the dream.

What happens when it is not what intoxication imagined them to be? When their true self, both good and bad become reality. Do you turn away disappointed again, or do you choose to get to know your new friend?

Distance and loved ones that make up their lives, may be the reason their glance never survives. But honestly dear, in truth does it matter?........ The heart knows what it knows, so it fights to keep from being shattered.

Maybe it is fate that won’t let this be, or is it God’s protection over you and me? Maybe He sees beyond their circumstance and know the world would never allow them to dance.

This, my kindhearted friend, I do not know, my heart cannot see which way this will go. But I know at night when I close my eyes God told me to lift your lives up to Him in the skies.

A moonlit road under a cloudy night sky.

When stuck in the middle of two types of towns, nothing is worse than traffic slowing you down. But if you rush faster than what God has planned, could you find yourself in a place you don't understand?

I know going slow with sometimes a stop can seem like sliding backwards in a five speed on a hilltop. This my friend while frustrating at times, just may be protection for your life and mine.

While speed and stop signs frustrate our pace, isn't better if everything was in its right place. Does slow moving traffic actually create a space where conversation between passengers can safely take place?

Playlists with all of your favorite songs, are the perfect reason for a drive to be long. Sometimes using words to tell your tale, while allowing music to speak in ways that will not fail.

I heard music played while riding around in a car, can create dreams, new love and the occasional star. So why would you want to drive too fast, missing songs in your playlist you saved for last.

So many songs have a special sound, only felt while driving with the windows down. Chasing moon beams and starlight from the front seat of your car, with quiet conversation makes the distance seem not too far.

I can't imagine being in your place, never knowing if someone you care for is fake. I guess all you can do is pray, that God who loves us both makes it as clear as day.

I know despite my recent pain, I foolishly still believe someday......true love will be gained. Maybe it's just a silly girls dream, but so what. ;)

I don't understand where this came from or how you ended up a part of my life, but it hurts me dear friend love could bring such strife. I am not sure if this is real, but if so, whoever wins your heart will be getting quite the deal.

I love your kind eyes and your open heart, full of words and notes like the ones that helped me restart. You even know how to jump start a car and that my friend, around here, will take you far.

If I could, I would meet you in my hometown, where we could quietly talk and walk around. I would take you down red dirt roads, show you beautiful places only the locals know.

Conversations by the lake with the moon shining bright, in the morning I'd meet you for eggs and bacon while sharing new sunlight. I can't cook but no worries there, tons of local restaurants keep away that scare. LOL

Holiday God

Magnolias and Moonlight

Magnolias and Moonlight

Sara wondered do they care and understand it takes three to make two, or just see God when sitting on the occasional holiday pew.  Will he love praying for us some days, or prefer I take that task because he doesn't love God so hasn't much to say.

Sara wondered do they care and understand it takes three to make two, or just see God when sitting on the occasional holiday pew.  Will he love praying for us some days, or prefer I take that task because he doesn't love God so hasn't much to say.

Will he love the fall and walking through it's beautiful leaves, or prefer to stay inside away from things that make him sneeze.  Will he love sitting by a fire and watching the moon, or remind me that there are a ton of bugs outside along with those nasty raccoons.

Will he love me and my imperfect ways, or get frustrated finding random coffee cups I seem to misplace EVERYDAY.  Will he love the way I enjoy gas powered engines and speed, or will he put a "Prius" in the garage and say that's all I need.

Will he love that I care deeply about people and things, or want to keep me to himself and clip my wings.  Will he love the way I love those precious kids and their toys, or secretly hope they never come around with their noise.

So, I "think" God will pick someone with kind eyes and a giving heart, He knows exactly what I need for my life's new start.  Only someone who has walked in similar situations, can understand how important trust is to a firm foundation.

Yes, I am older and not as fast I as once was, but even older hearts need to experience true love.  I will grow older with someone I can love and trust, uninterested by the offers of one night stands or move in with me....(x)

Now that former books have started figuring this all out, unwanted offers like coupon books are laying all about.  I know some older women out of fear will take whatever they can get, I see where they are coming from but don't understand settling for it.

So, enough of my heart's silly questioning rhyme, I think I know where my ship is heading in a few months time.  Once I have arrived only time can reveal if that destination was right, if wrong, God will guide me as I sail on into the night.

The small church came into view, candles lit the windows and she settled into one of the pews.  There were couples all around her holding hands and saying prayers, she had seen them together again and was happy they were there. (They had their special someone for years) (a confusing line of (feats, tears, heat….dear)

She knelt at the altar once again, leaving her confusion and what was most precious to her in God's hands.  (that night?) She tossed and turned and at midnight wrote nonsense in a book, when daylight came the fears had lessened so she almost took a second look.

No reason to look again, they were right  and she was wrong until that day, she would be quiet and have nothing more to say. Her little ship had been crushed because she had sailed too soon.  If she had only been patient and slowed down she would have avoided the ice melting monsoon.

How can such a beautiful place be real, with diamonds in the water cut by my ship's keel. The mountains in view call us to come, so we can walk in their quiet forests away from everyone.

I hear kids excitement expressed with loud squeals, but I am walking with you, so I got the better deal. Sunlight and shadows created by the trees, decorate our pathway as we walk through early fall leaves.

Age has slowed down both of our paces, but this hasn't changed the peace on our faces. Lines reflect the times in our lives, some created by laughter and others by words that cut like a knife.

Green and black are the colors of the day, never failing to catch my eyes as they move my way. The beauty around protects us from view, enjoying quiet times when it’s just me and you.

We stop to rest beneath the trees, and from the lake comes a cool breeze. I wonder again how this came to be, because one in a million odds, when won, are hard to believe.
